Concept, direction, interview and sound design
I wanted this video to disrupt mainstream narratives of the Russian Revolution in parallel with the release of Tomila Lankina’s new book. Aesthetically we chose a high-contrast low lighting set-up for the interview to introduce historial authority. Since there was incredible archival footage from her research I chose to really lean into the archival aesthetic, using sepia tones and light motion graphics to create the back-story of research.
