The challenge for this project was choosing just one story to tell from Fawaz Gerges’ timely new book. I focused the video’s concept on myths and realities, and used the binary black and white visual device to run throughout. There was a lot of historical footage to source and integrate, so I created an archival scrapbook aesthetic to give a visual language to the complexity of history explored within the video.
